Canoeathon

This last weekend our region held a canoeathon. Brownies and Guides descended on Florida Lake where the Florida Sea Scouts provided us with boats, life jackets and expertise. thanks so much.

Although the highlight was the canoeing, there were plenty of land activities as well. Our base was rope throwing. Brownies only had to throw a rope to a friend across the "river"

Guides and Rangers had to learn how to tie a one-handed bowline around their waists as well as throw the rope.

There were other bases as well, the rope bridge where you might get sprayed with water by scouts,

...and carrying water on your hat and emptying it into a bucket as a relay.

....much to the entertainment of the onlookers.

finally the Waverley Guides got to go on the water. Some of them were a bit nervous and one did fall in but I think everybody enjoyed themselves.
