Eat, Drink and Be Merry

It seems that we've been doing a lot of eating and drinking recently. Last week we talked about healthy food. We borrowed a juicer and the girls chose which fruit and vegetable juice to make. The Swallows made a citrus mix while the Robins made carrot, apple and ginger. Then the Guiders played and made a minty apple/orange drink. While one patrol was juicing, the other was making coleslaw stuffed eggs and coleslaw.

Yesterday we had Patrol Dinners. It was suggested that we rename them Come Dine with Me.

One girl from each patrol cooked at her home for the rest of her patrol, one Guider and a tester for the Cook's badge. Both girls passed their Cook's badge and the rest of us had a lovely dinner. I ate vegetable soup and croutons, butter chicken with rice and garlic bread and a festive Indian pudding with custard.

Brown Bear also got to eat chicken, rice and vegetables.

Sometimes it is not such a good thing to have your cook's badge because then your mother knows you can cook!

A few weeks back we held a traditional evening. I wasn't there. Brown Bear organised everything. The girls were asked to dress up in something traditional and to bring some traditional food.

The food included chillibites (India), Pap and sauce and spinach, (South Africa), shortbread, (Scotland), quesadillas (USA), Dumpling beef stew, vetkoek (South Africa), prawncrackers and bowties (China)

The girls also learned greetings in different South African languages. All together a fun but educational evening.
